50 year work anniversary: own road for Thijs Meijers
Leersum has a new street name: Thijs Meijersweg. After 50 years of loyal service to our sister company, Nursery Darthuizer, in Leersum, the long term employee was surprised this Friday with a street named after him. Director Guido Ilsink handed Thijs Meijers the street sign which was mounted immediately in position en-route to the company. In The Netherlands very few workers reach 50 years of service at the same company.
On August 9, 1965 the 15-year-old Thijs joined the Darthuizer Nursery and Seed Trade as an apprentice arborist. Over the years he has held various positions within the company.
Always at work
Two years ago, there is almost had to take early retirement from Darthuizer when he suffered from a severe intestinal infection. Fortunately, he got back on his feet as quickly as possible and went back to work. Doing nothing is not in Thijs’ nature! He always likes to keep busy. Lately Thijs has been taking it easy and has exchanged the truck for the wheelbarrow and is doing all kinds of activities within the company. Thijs will finally retire at the end of this year.
You will most likely discover something new while you are doing so, and it’ll keep more helpful hints you inspired to continue on.
